Two Hearts Beat as One
This is my first piece of jewelry sculpted entirely in the computer using the Zbrushcore app. The learning curve for this app is rather steep but I persevered and was rewarded with exceptional detail on a micro scale. After completing the sculpt I 3d printed the object on Elegoo Mars Pro resin printer. Next, I attempted to make a silicone mold from the 3d print. I was taken back to the school of hard knocks to learn that 3d printed SLA resin does not play well with platinum cure silicone. After consulting with Smooth-on (my silicone provider) I learned of “Inhibit X”, a chemical to be applied to the 3d print which coats the 3d printed SLA resin original and allows the silicone to cure. Once I had a successful mold I used Fastfire Bronze Clay in the push mold and then fired the impression in a kiln at 2000° F. The result is this piece of jewelry now available on my web store.
